Blabber is our mailing list. Second to our Slack, this is where most of the community discussion happens. Blabber uses the Mailman mailing list software, which is very common in technical communities but which you may not be familiar with.
Go to the main Blabber page to subscribe to the list. You will need to enter your email address. You will then receive a confirmation email with further instructions to complete the subscription process. (Don’t worry too much about the password, it’s optional.)
After subscribing, you can send messages to Blabber by emailing email@example.com. You are very welcome to send a message introducing yourself and your interests.
Blabber sometimes has a high volume of email, so you have the option of subscribing in digest mode, where you get the messages grouped in digests. Digests are good for keeping up with Blabber, but unfortunately they are not very good if you want to respond and participate in the discussion. You may be able to use your email client to send Blabber messages to a separate folder so they bypass your main inbox. If you use Gmail, you can also mute individual conversations you are not interested in.
Tip: Only reply to a Blabber message if you are responding to the topic being discussed. If you have a new question or topic to discuss, send an entirely new message to firstname.lastname@example.org with a descriptive topic. (Don’t use the reply button in this case because messages may still be threaded with the old discussion.)
